The excitement is palpable... CITY BREAKS ARE BACK ON!
I for one, feel like a caged beast, frantically ready to roll. If my darling husband suggests another fun holiday in the family camper-van on a windy Scottish beach I might start crying and never stop. However, glorious 2022 brings with it the joy of travel, with friends who aren't in our bubble even! Actual sunshine short breaks that develop tans which are not from a can! MY MIND IS BLOWN!
Anyway, I could waffle on for days about my excitement levels. I think the last time I went anywhere with friends was Copenhagen June 2019, I discovered I DO actually like Aperol spritz and that Take That are big in Denmark - who knew!?
However suffice to say, I'm a touch excited, enough is enough, lets dive in - what should you be packing for Chic Winter City Breaks with friends?
KEEP IT COORDINATED
The secret to packing for all trips, especially the short ones, is to select a colour palette and stick with it. Your wardrobe might be awash with pastel and jewel tone colours but for an aggressive carry-on baggage allowance you will need to pair that shiz right back - right back. Try to chose the initial few items that you can't live without and take it from there. Select other items that coordinate with that colour palette and be ruthless - no wild cards, you don't need them.
KEEP IT MINIMAL
It depends on the length of the trip but for a 3 night break I would suggest you can cope with 10 to 12 items of clothing and no more than 3 pairs of shoes. For this blog I have chosen 12 pieces including bags and shoes to show you just how versatile a small number of items can be.
Does that sound doable or are you sweating already? For longer trips up to a week you might increase it to 20? Are you in a profuse cold sweat now or good? Have a good selection of bottoms and tops that fulfil different uses and functions, 10 black tops and one pair of jeans isn't really going to give you different looks, mix in pieces that change things up and can be layered to account for temperature changes.
